Televison Welcome to the televison example portion of the website. Below, you can view some examples of my work as a reporter.
On the tape: This day-turn investigative piece resulted in a University policy being removed the same day, and re-examined by officials the next week. Currently, changes to the overriding state law are also being discussed.
On the tape: This live story ran the day Mid-Missouri received 16 inches of snow. I walked about a half mile from my house to a main road to catch a ride to the station, wearing old tennis shoes and carrying my suit in a trash bag. I, like most of Mid-Missouri, was unprepared for the largest snowfall in our area in years.
On the tape: I broke this story after discovering it while searching through an online FDIC database. While many Mid-Missourians knew of our neighboring county's economic woes, hardly anyone expected them to have the higest bankruptcy filing rate in the United States.
On the tape: The story above created some controversy and commentary in Howard County. The next week, after news had spread, I decided to do a follow-up on the story hearing some community leaders' reactions.
On the tape: An investigative piece on a hole in the Missouri voter registration database that allowed a person to register to vote more than once. Airing near the time of the 2006 midterm elections, it was specifically timely in Missouri, where voter fraud had become a hot political issue.
On the tape: Aimed to curb voter fraud, the "voter ID law," would have required all voters to show a state-issued photo ID at the polls. This created an uproar from special interest groups, who said it was unfair to the poor, disabled, and to minorities. This is a live report the day the law was struck down in court.
